Let’s start the bedwetting conversation

Bedwetting is surprisingly common among older children but parents are often afraid to talk about it due to a fear of judgement. Research has shown that almost half of all parents with children from 5 to 7 years old who wet the bed at night, feel helpless.

We think this needs to change, especially with Christmas on the horizon!

Let’s start the bedwetting conversation Thanks for the snaps Squaddies Natsai1, jzjen and Plonka 🤗

With overnight stays to visit family, late nights and disruption to the usual routines, Christmas is a time where bedwetting can become more of a concern than usual for parents and children.

Our starter kits are on their way and in the meantime, let’s begin a discussion around the experience of bedwetting because of bedwetting. Remember, this is a safe space and we’re here to support and encourage one another. If you’ve found anything that works for you and your child, share your tips and info in the comment section to see if the same thing could help other parents this festive season and beyond.

Why does bedwetting occur? 🤔

Bedwetting can be a challenging for children and parents alike and the reasons behind it are likely to vary from child to child. One thing that always remains the same though is that bedwetting is no one’s fault

There are many reasons for bedwetting, from a child’s bladder capacity to hold wee produced overnight, to psychological triggers like stress or a major life event. There are a few potential underlying health matters that can lead your little one to wet the bed, e.g. constipation1.

How to manage bedwetting

There are several solutions that exist to help you to manage bedwetting and make you and your child more confident. Consider trying some of these practical tips:

  • Get to know your child’s toilet habits – you may spot a pattern.
  • Make sure your child gets plenty of liquid during the day and if possible consider limiting large amounts of fluids before bed.
  • Remind your child to use the toilet 20 minutes before bed and again just before they lie down for sleep.
  • Constipation can be an underlying cause of bedwetting1, so ensure your child eats plenty of fibre as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.
  • Be supportive: Reassure your child and help them on the path to working through it. Don’t punish or blame them for bedwetting, try to stay positive and encouraging.

How to ensure your little one sleeps easy 💤

If your little one feels embarrassed about bedwetting, then Ninjamas Bedwetting Pyjama Pants may be just the thing to ease anxiety and ensure your child wakes feeling confident and well rested. Ninjamas keep skin (and bedding) dry and comfortable all night long. What’s more, the choice of cool designs and the Quietcloth material mean they don’t look, feel or sound like nappies. So, your kid can feel confident wearing them even when they stay away from home overnight .

Let your friends try Ninjamas too! 🐱‍👤

Great designs and fit my 5 yr old perfectly not uncomfortable around her legs like others we have tried and no leaks !!

Barbiebabe • 05/12/2023 - 11:37

We received our pack yesterday and tried a pair on right away - Pampers Ninjamas did not disappoint! My 6yo daughter loves the design and was impressed by how similar to pants they look, so she put them on with pleasure and no fuss. No leaks in the morning - just a happy smile instead! We look forward to testing Ninjamas over Christmas too, when the challenge of changing routines can be a trigger to bedwetting.

Recieved my kit yesterday thankyou pampers 😊 my little boy has autism and I was unsure how he would handle a change to his usual nappies/bedtime pants , but I can confidently say they are a massive hit ! He loved them ! They feel like actual cloth and I think that’s why he likes them 😊 he woke this morning with no leaks and happy

My little girl is four and has never had a dry night. When I speak to other mums with similar age children they are apparently dry at night so it makes me worry that something is wrong with my daughter. We have tried no drinks after 6pm (making sure she drinks a lot during the day), and lots of toilet trips before bed, but as yet it hasn't made a difference, I think she just sleeps too deeply that it is not waking her to go to the toilet. To be honest, I have never let her wear nothing at night because I just don't have time for extra washing, especially in winter! I've always put her in nappies, but she is starting to say that they are for babies. These pants are much more grown up and should help in that regard. Really hoping to break the taboo around bedwetting as I shouldn't feel ashamed that she is still wetting at night, she is still only tiny. It is just peer pressure (and older family members....) that tells me it shouldn't be this way. I'm really hoping that by making it more fun by having these pants, it takes the pressure off a bit and it may happen naturally

Night one complete!!! We had a successful night after receiving our pack yesterday right before bed! My 4yr old couldn't wait to get a pair on after seeing the 'cool' design and 'awesome' colours and was strutting around the living room with them on.
He had been mostly dry for a few months until recently (a spate of feeling unwell / excitement of this time of year / lots going on in his little mind) and I was having to change his sheets every morning and sometimes during the night due to leaks with the brand I was using which not only is a complete pain but quite upsetting for him waking up wet and cold given the current weather. These pants provide full coverage, are nice and elasticated around the legs and tummy and are soooooooo soft!!! I can't wait to see how they perform going forward 😍

My packs arrived today for my 5 year old. This will be the start of a new routine for us to try. He's just moved into his big bed and now he's desperate to be dry

somewhereapart • 05/12/2023 - 17:57

My son received his and he was disappointed that they are just like pull ups, but he was super excited to try the pyjama pants and told me " maybe you can ask them to make them more like big boy pants and then I can start wearing those" I explained the basics of the pants, and that normal pants are not exactly suitable if you have an accident.
He meant underpants, but he had a dry night (he usually does, it's just a mix of dry and getting up all night or a wet because he sleeps in) sometimes he's up all night and still doesn't go to the toilet. He is 5.

He is super excited that he got some pyjama pants and he's trying super hard to keep them dry so he can wear just normal pants in bed! Thank you for giving us the chance to try these.

Mum2JoshuaandBrandon • 05/12/2023 - 19:24

Well they have arrived. Little one was eager to try them so that's what we did. So far so good, little one felt so grown up in his big boy pants. He woke in the night asking for the toilet. Time will tell

BusyB911 • 05/12/2023 - 19:40

Received my pack and am looking forward to testing out the pants. Especially since we will be doing sleepovers during the holidays.

MummyChops • 05/12/2023 - 20:37

My Official review of the product
After one night I can see these being a lifesaver- or at least a washing machine saver! Great absorption and no leaks at all !! Sometimes you can only trust pampers . Have shared this with friends and they are excited to use these too . Great pattern and comfortable according to my child . Thank you pampers

Sana1 • 07/12/2023 - 21:25

I have received my pack and started to test already. They look and feel great. My daughter loves wearing them and so far no leakage. Really happy with the product and would love to share with friends and friends.

BunnyA • 08/12/2023 - 00:55

Can't wait to receive our pack and get testing.

Al82 Verified 08/12/2023 - 16:32

Received my pack yesterday and my daughter (aged 5) really liked the more grown up looking packaging. The fit is great and they aren’t tight aren’t the legs at all. We actually had a dry night- a very rare occurrence! Thank you for letting us be a part of this trial.

Ah I'm so glad I joined this Ninjamas squad! It's such a relief to know I'm not the only parent with a child who still wets the bed. I feel like every kid in my son's year and the years below are all dry. Of course I'm sure that's not the case but it seems so taboo to discuss it :-( My son is almost 7 and was doing really well with several dry nights a week during summer but since starting school again he's gone back to being wet maybe 5 or 6 nights a week. He adores school so it's not stress or anxiety; perhaps it was just getting back into the routine again. It will be interesting to see how things go over Christmas. But regarding the design of the pants - my son loves them! Definitely more comfy than the supermarket version x

Kukoanyu Verified 09/12/2023 - 07:24

Thank you pampers for being chosen. My son is 4 and a half and he is sort of dry, but if he sleeps too deep or haven't gone to toilet before bed or if he feeling unwell and has fever, accidents still happen. To save time on changing the whole bed in the middle of the night he was wearing nappies or other brands night pullyps but they bulky 😒moving to ninjamas he really enjoyed it. He likes the pattern and is comfy and easy to pull up. Also never had any leaks. As always pampers never disapppoints me. Keep up your good job!! And also likes your surveys and new changes in other pampers nappies. (I have a little one in nappy pants too 🥰 and wanted to say the poonami proof is poonalo proof😀).

RacerX • 12/12/2023 - 02:07

Thank you so much for adding us to the squad and sending our packs. I have left a few leaflets at School (and pre school) as a way of spreading the word and expanding my ability to discuss the subject with others. The leaflets have gone already so I feel a little assured that we're not the only ones and I'm proud to have spread the word a little already
